Chuck has been with AAM since the beginning. His beautiful Stealth has evolved throughout the years and deserves to be put front and center. Many people say their car is built, but few have the power or actual work done to back it up. Chuck does, and he'll be sure to show you and prove it! Although no one can recall all the work done to this beast, including Chuck himself, we can let you in on the major upgrades.
Of course it all starts with the high-tech AAM Spec line-up of parts. And it's a long line-up! The motor is a complete in-house build-up using our custom AAM Spec JE Forged Pistons and Crower Rods. The heads have been worked to flow like a ranging river with the help of Ferrea oversized valves, titanium retainers, double wall spring, and other goodies. This proven package has been shown to handle in excess of 800AWHP (or ~1000HP@ the crank). Now that this Stealth's heart is built, we needed to feed this monster with some twins that would do it justice.
In comes the AAM Spec Garrett GT series Ball Bearing Turbo Kit. A pair of these huge water cooled snails are mounted to custom T-304 stainless tubular manifolds. This AAM Spec designed turbo system allows us to install a larger turbo that would normally take forever to spool, but because of the many days of fine tuning we see a significant reduction in spoolup. That said, when these turbos are blazing, there is nothing stopping this Unwinged Flying Object. Spent gases exit through 2.5" downpipes and into the custom AAM Spec 3.5" MaxFlow Dual N1 Exhaust System. Without a doubt this Stealth barks like a powerhouse and has the power to back it up.
To put all this power to the ground RPS provided their Carbon Twin Plate Clutch System. Developed by RPS with AAM's assistance, this full face carbon clutch system handles upwards of 800lb-ft or torque while providing longer life and smooth engagement as compared to a traditional, single plate clutch. An AWD launch with this much power will make your average clutch go up in smoke - that's why at AAM we use this RPS Carbon series which also resides in Mike Mahaffey's Record Breaking Stealth Twin Turbo.
Apex'I Gauges for Boost, EGT, Fuel Pressure, Oil Temp, and Water Temp keep tabs on the running conditions of the motor. The gauges have a Peak/Hold function that allow Chuck to monitor his engine's running condition. This is an absolute necessity due to the speeds this car can attain is very short order. Let's just say keeping your eyes where it counts - on the road - makes it very hard to watch the gauges!
On the fuel and spark side of things we start off with the AAM Spec Stage II+ Fuel System which comes complete with AAM 950cc injectors, AAM designed and built billet fuel rails, AAM stainless steel fuel lines and anodized fittings, a custom welded sump kit, and huge Aeromotive external pump to make sure this motor will receives all the fuel it thirsts for. An AEM EMS system manages the injectors and ignition spark. The very good stock ignition system is supplement by the HKS TwinPowers DLI unit that increase spark voltage through both CDI and transistor methods. The longer spark duration ensures a complete burn cycle and also helps to ward of spark blowout which can be a horrible issue at 24+psi. The greatest thing about the DLI and HKS electronics in general is their unwavering reliability and performance. Without a doubt the DLI is the must have upgrade for ignition systems of all types.
A fine set of Volk Racing GT-P wheels complements the smooth flowing lines of the Stealth. The additional width and quality of the tires keep the Stealth and its power firmly planted to the road. The great thing about AWD platforms is they go like stink in a straight line and take turns with the best of them.
Chuck's car is a perfect example of the accumulation and progression of the latest and greatest technologies in high-performance car parts on the market today - including the innovating and exclusive AAM Spec products developed, engineered, and produced here at Altered Atmosphere. To a whopping, fully streatable 650rwhp (800+hp at the engine!) in Chuck's Stealth!
The Crew at AAM would like to personally thank Chuck for all of his support throughout the years. We don't think we could have asked for a better customer and friend.
Thanks Chuck!
